Faithfulness

 

In Acts 1, Peter is speaking here at v. 21:

“So now we must choose a replacement for Judas from among the men who were with us the entire time we were traveling with the Lord Jesus— 22 from the time he was baptized by John until the day he was taken from us. Whoever is chosen will join us as a witness of Jesus’ resurrection” (NLT).

 

Psalms (109:6-8)

They say, “Get an evil person to turn against him. Send an accuser to bring him to trial. When his case comes up for judgment, let him be pronounced guilty. Count his prayers as sins. 8 Let his years be few; let someone else take his position.

 

Matthias was chosen; his qualifications to be an apostle were NOT based on his talent or his abilities, gifts God gave him, his money/following.

 

Matthias was faithful.

 

God is looking for faith

 

without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6a)

 

God is faithful, and He calls us to be faithful as well.

 

Your calling doesn’t have as much to do with you as it does with the One that called you.

 

When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles … Luke 6:13 NIV

 

21 Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: 22 The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. 23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” 25 The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. 26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD (LAMENTATIONS 3, NLT).

 

Faithful means to be full of faith (believe the Word, trust Him).

 

God is willing to speak.

It may just be a whisper, so slow down enough to listen for Him to speak.

Do it often so that you’ll be able to recognize His voice, and lean into Him so you’ll hear His voice.

 

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him” (Lam. 3).

 

You are where you are for a reason.

 

Consider the influence that you have in sharing the gospel.

 

Make an impact for the cause of Christ.

You are where you are for a purpose.

 

Being faithful with the small things reaps great rewards.

 

Here is the lesson in the anointing of Matthias; it says:

            I am here when God is moving, and

I am here when I can’t sense His leading.

            I keep hanging in here, doing what I can – day in and day out.

            I‘m gonna praise Him when I feel like it, and when I don’t.

 

Sooner or later a shower of refreshing is going to come!

 

If I wait on the Lord, He will renew my strength!

 

Jeremiah 29:12-14A, NIV

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the LORD

 

Find out what God has called you to do, and be faithful to doing it.

 

God will NOT overlook your faithfulness. He takes note even when no one else does.

 

Psalm 27:14, NIV

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD

 

Matthias chose to be faithful because he didn’t do it for the recognition.

 

Work as if God sees everything, because He does!

 

            HE is your witness.

            He is your lifter.

            And He is the one who brings promotion
